FAIR taxes - a correct definition

a lot of words get redefined over time...some by public use/misuse, others by agenda driven campaigns...the latter has claimed fair as a victim

how often do we hear "fair" used while politicians and wanna be politicians are arguing over our tax system?...liberals are constantly whining that tax cuts are not "fair" because they give more to the "rich"

let's go back and find a correct definition for fair, as it relates to our tax system

start with why we pay taxes: to pay for the costs of running America...now imagine we were just a small group of people, and we needed a system to pay for the expenses associated with our group...what would be the fair way to divide up these expenses?...this is a question which seems rhetorical, seems so easy that you could ask any grammar school student, and they could supply the correct answer:

you divide the expenses equally among everyone

if your expenses are $100 and you have 10 people, fair is each person pays $10...there is no other way to define fair

now I realize we will never have a tax system where everyone pays the same amount...but can anyone logically, accurately, define fair in any other way?

so we go on, and we say, well let's all just pay a percent of our income in taxes...but do we all pay the same percent?..."no" cry the masses, "that wouldn't be fair"...so we get a graduated scale where "the rich" pay higher percentages on their income...please, you can think any socialistic thoughts you want about how good that system is, but you simply cannot call it fair!

let me give you just one example to ponder: how would you like to go to the gas station and be told: "if you make over $200,000 a year, it's $5/gallon, $100,000 to $200,000, it's $4/gallon, $50,000 to $100,000, it's $2/gallon, $25,000 to $50,000 it's free, and if you make less than $25,000 a year, we will pay you $1/gallon to take it"...sounds absurd, and none of us would stand for it, but how different is it from our current income tax system?

and could someone please explain to me why we stand for a system with rules, loopholes, and regulations so complex that 10 out of 10 tax experts consistently disagree on how the laws apply for a given situation?...and my personal favorite is calling the irs help line with the same question 10 times consistently yields 10 different answers - but the taxpayer is still responsible for doing the correct thing (whatever it is ultimately ruled to be)

but what really burns my grits is arguing for a fair tax system...can we at least start with the correct definition of what would be fair, and go from there?

I would like to see this become the new Republican slogan...the issue of illegal aliens effects every branch of our economy, security, and well being as a nation

but HOW do we get Republican elected officials behind this issue?...they all seem eager to adopt so many pro-illegal issues it leaves me totally baffled

mccain had to be dragged kicking and screaming just to support building a fence, for God's sake...and where is that fence?...I don't think it ever happened

let me propose 3 main pillars for the ILLEGAL is ILLEGAL 1 2 3 movement:

1. build the border fence

2. prosecute employers who hire illegals

3. eliminate government handouts for illegal aliens

if Republicans can figure out how to get on the right side of this issue, they can save the conservative movement...if not, with 30 million illegals, plus the "family members" they bring in if they get amnesty, you can kiss any wins in national elections good bye for the foreseeable future

the lesson of the Martin/Zimmerman tragedy

what should we draw from this?...it's horrible a 17 year old boy lost his life, a family lost their son...it's awful too that a man who should never have been charged was railroaded by misguided "justice seekers" and his life is arguably ruined as well...it's unthinkable the government prosecutor hid evidence then fired a whistleblower who exposed her...it's sad to see America once again split so clearly along black/white racial lines - so much for obummer bringing us all together

those blaming Zimmerman claim he was "stalking" Martin...I disagree...if I lived in a neighborhood being victimized by break-ins, I would love to have a neighbor willing to watch out for people acting suspiciously...if you live in a neighborhood, you know when something looks out of place...sure, if Zimmerman hadn't followed Martin, this wouldn't have happened...but please, THERE IS NOTHING ILLEGAL IN FOLLOWING SOMEONE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU THINK (RIGHTLY OR WRONGLY) THEY MAY BE UP TO NO GOOD

the crime in this tragedy occurred when Martin assaulted Zimmerman

Martin had more than ample opportunity (a full four minutes worth) to just go back to the house where he was staying...Martin goes back to the house, and there is no tragedy

is it some macho thing?...is it some gang-banger attitude or code?...if you feel dissed you have to assault who offends you?....these are all stupid, stupid, reactions to a real or perceived offense

HERE is the lesson of the Martin/Zimmerman tragedy:

teach your kids not to assault anyone - for whatever reason

we do that properly and effectively, and we are guaranteed no more Martin/Zimmerman tragedies

SCOTUS justices actually think we are bigots!!!

dangerous failure of America's mental health system

what is crystal clear in the horror of the Sandy Hook School shootings, the Aurora Theater massacre, VA Tech, Columbine, etc., etc., etc. - you name the mass shooting incident - is a total failure by our mental health treatment system to identify and properly treat or institutionalize the patients committing these atrocities

all of these killers were under the treatment of a mental health professional...none of them were treated properly for the safety of Americans

how is the focus not where is should be?....how can our mental health treatment system be failing so miserably to recognize and treat or put away these people before they go on their mass killing spree?

it is time to start addressing the real problem in this sordid mess to America's safety and do it now before another of these horrendous acts occurs again

but first we have to recognize and face the real problem -

a winning issue for Conservatives

increasingly, America is becoming a conflict between those who primarily work and pay taxes, and those who primarily receive government (taxpayer-paid) benefits...and the liberal lines of "you can afford to give more", "the rich need to pay their fair share", "it's for the children", and the like, continue to persuade many, if not most, Americans who do primarily work and pay taxes

Conservatives need to fight tax increases with the message that "as more and more people start getting more and more of your income in taxes, they become an overwhelming majority of voters who will continue to take more of your income and you won't be able to stop them from doing that - you are creating a majority voting block that is working against you"

this is an argument of financial persuasion and reality...this is an argument that makes the economy personal...this is an argument that anyone who looks at their paycheck can understand....this is an argument that can make Conservatives a majority winning voting block again, before it is too late

now all we need is a Messenger

well please pause to think...as the obummer vision for America continues to grow, so will that 47%...what happens when that 47% becomes 51%?

if you are part of the 53% right now, and you think it's OK for us "rich" to pay more, that 47% will keep growing...and as they start demanding more and more from you, AT SOME POINT YOU WILL SAY "NO MORE"...but by then, that 47% you voted with will then be 51%, and it won't matter that you say "NO MORE"

that's really the paramount question in this whole Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman case, isn't it?...if it's Martin, Zimmerman is toast...if it's Zimmerman, the 2nd degree murder charge is dead

first of all, shame (again) on sharpton the huckster, jesse the dead-beat-dad, spike lee and rosie o'dufus...can we at least get a little evidence before you decide to hang Zimmerman?

it seems obvious Zimmerman does indeed have a big wound on the back of his head, consistent with his and some reported witness accounts

and although it is greatly suppressed, that image of Martin with a mouthful of gold teeth raises questions on his character

so can we wait for the evidence?...the ballistics may give a lot of data as well - how far away the shot was fired, angles, etc.

and just like the OJ case, this one is severely split along racial lines...here's my prediction:  one forensic expert will say the screaming is Martin, and 90+% of Blacks will think he's right - another forensic expert will say the screaming is Zimmerman, and 90+% of Whites will think he's right

but these idiots trying to convict Zimmerman before the evidence comes out really just tick me off
